Our Location
We are conveniently located on Churton Street in Hillsborough. We serve students from Orange and Durham counties, and surrounding areas.
Philosophy
"Creativity takes courage!" At BYT, our mission is to inspire and foster a love for performance arts to our local youth. We strive to not just teach, but also to build confidence and encourage each individual's creativity. Like a butterfly, we want to see each child grow, evolve, and transform!
Facility
We have classroom and rehearsal space in Boone Square, attached to To The Pointe Dance Studio. Performances are held in various locations in Hillsborough.
Our Story
Backyard Theatricals literally started in a back yard! After years of wanting to open a theater in Hillsborough, I finally decided to start one in 2020...in the midst of the pandemic! For a year, we had classes and productions outside so that kids could have a safe outlet for their energy and creativity. After moving to our new location, the kids voted to keep the name!
Backyard Theatricals is a welcoming and affirming organization for all genders, races, sexualities, religions, and anything else you can think of!
